Fellows gather every Wednesday afternoon for a seminar, organized just for them, their spouses and partners. These seminars are designed to spark discussion and debate on significant contemporary issues.

The seminar leaders can range from distinguished Stanford faculty and business and political leaders to writers, artists and other cultural and social observers who bring their insight, new perspectives and new ideas.

Seminars in a given year might include a Nobel Prizewinning scientist explaining the latest controversies in biotechnology, a technology forecaster on the future of Silicon Valley, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author talking about the writing process, or a civil rights historian on the role of Martin Luther King, Jr. Each year we highlight a few main themes in our seminars, but are open to other ideas that are timely or seem likely to generate good discussion. The program staff works with the Fellows to identify topics and people who will help us think about important issues.

In addition to our regular weekly seminars, fellows and spouses gather for our Backstory Seminars one night a week. These give every fellow the chance to tell the rest of us about her or his journalism and personal background, followed by an informal dinner.
